Katta Maisamma Temple lies on lower Tank Bund
road, close to Indira Park, between Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Katta means a bridge on bund across a river or lake and Maisamma
denotes a local deity. It has been a practise in Andhra Pradesh's
Telangana region to build a Katta Maisamma temple to invoke the
Goddesses favours and blessings for the safety of those crossing the
bridge. During the month of Ashad(July) this temple attracts a large
gathering for the "Bonalu" festival. The month of Karthik
is also celebrated here with great festivities.
