Located 27 km. from Hyderabad, Shamirpet lake is popular for its
artificial lake which was dug almost 50 years ago by a Jagirdar of
that area.
It is a combination of a water reserve and a deer park where
several species of deer can be seen in their natural habitat. It is
a man made lake and has a complex with 12 cottages (tariff A/C D/
Room Rs.300/- on weekdays and Rs.350/- on holidays, non-A/C/D /Room
Rs.225/- on weekdays and Rs.250/- on holidays) and restaurant. Its
peaceful environs make it a great picnic spot, the shady groves keep
the area cool and pleasant.
On weekends and holidays, Shamirpet provides a contrasting scene
with large gatherings of families. The otherwise peaceful Shamirpet
echoes with voices of boisterous youngsters and kids having their
own fun time.
